With 24 ha (59 acres) and around 4,400 birds from 675 species, it is the largest bird park in the world, both in terms of area and number of birds. Birds from all continents and climatic zones of the world can be seen. Originally the park was founded by the merchant Fritz Gifts to breed pheasants and water birds. Today the park has a great international reputation, with unique birds that no other park has (e.g. Silkworms, Erdracken, Vangawurger and Kurole). The birds in the park consume 11,850 eggs and 157,550 kg of other food per year. The park offers a great excursion experience, it is also known for its large variety of beautiful flowers.
