At the end of its run, the Mosel forms a spectacular landscape with the steepest vineyards in Europe on the slopes of the Mosel, which in some places almost form a circle. Famous wines like the “Kröver Nacktarsch” on the Kröver Mosel slopes flourish here. Picturesque wine production spots such as Traben-Trarbach and Bernkastel come one after the other until suddenly the 40 meter-tall Statue of the Virgin Mary with a view of Trier rises up, and the “Porta Nigra” and the “Konstantinsbasilika” remind you of the 4th Century, where the Roman Emperors resided in Trier (Augusta Treverorum).
