Lake Constance

It is the largest, deepest and most water-rich lake in Germany and shares borders with Switzerland, Austria and Germany in the middle of the lake. Another peculiarity is that a river (the Rhine) flows directly through it. The Rhine flows out of the lake at the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen. This makes it a unique waterfall and to the largest in Europe. The largest city on the lake is Constance. By far the largest island is Reichenau. Three important Romanesque churches and a monastery are located on the Reichenau. The islands of Reichenau and Mainau are also called the flower islands, because of their many beautiful flowers. Reichenau has also been on the UNESCO list and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2000.
