GDL Strike Causes Major Disruptions in Train Services

From the evening of December 7th until the end of December 8th, the long-distance, regional, and urban train services of Deutsche Bahn (DB) will be significantly disrupted nationwide due to a strike by the German Train Drivers’ Union (GDL). Travelers should expect delays and cancellations of trains. A contingency plan will be in place but will offer only a limited service, hence non-essential travel is discouraged.

Ticket Validity and Adjustments: Tickets for December 7th and 8th can be used at a later date without any restrictions on train choice, including altered routes to the original destination. Seat reservations can be cancelled free of charge. As a special concession, travelers can opt to start their journey earlier on December 7th to reach their destination before the strike’s expected start in the evening.

Additional Passenger Rights: Apart from rescheduling or cancelling tickets, passengers are entitled to other contractual or legal rights, including ticket refunds under certain conditions.

Important Sources of Information: Please check the latest information about your connection before traveling on the website www.bahn.de, the DB Navigator app, or via the telephone travel information service at +49302970.
